New Article USS Atlanta

The Ocean Discovery website is now updated with a new article about the GUE / Overseas media LLC project to the USS Atlanta.  This expedition marks a mile stone in the development of diving. Extreme exposure times at extreme depths produced hours of stunning video.  Ocean Discovery´s Richard Lundgren was one of the lead divers on the expedition.

New illustrations of the Mars

Alexander Rauscher, Svenska Dagbladet have done some fantastic illustrations of the wreck site.  They are based on over ten hours of ROV video shot during the field study in November 2011.  They give the viewer a clear overview of the wreck site.  It also illustrates how intact the Mars is.  The port side is almost completely intact with rows of gun ports.  More illustrations in high res here

The Mars to hit the giant screen

Richard Lundgren just came back from a five day trip to Hollywood together with Deep Sea Production's Malcolm Dixelius. Scandinature Films's Bo Landin will produce a 40min giant screen 3 D production. Underwater filming is planned for the summer of 2012.  DJ Roller will film the underwater 3D shots. Advanced computer generated images (CGI) and historical reenactments will put the viewer right in the middle of an epic battle. Replicas of huge guns will be tested to see if it was possible to sink ships from afar.  Read More

The lost guns of the Mars

This is one of many sources that gives us a hint about the Guns, lost on Mars (The headline reads “Bleff Bårtta på Mars”, and means lost on Mars). The bronze guns was according to this source two Canons, two ¾ Canons, two Culverins (Notslanga), seven ½ Canons, ten field Culverins, four ¾ Culverins, 20 ½ Culverins, six falcuns and 48 falcunettes. Together with the four iron stone-guns, the artillery in this source summarizes to 105 guns in ten different sizes. The amount differs in other sources. I am looking forward to scrutinize the sources and compare them with the findings below the surface. Diving in the archives and further research will tell.
